Welcome to Murray’s life.
Murray came home to me on December 19, 2002. He was a Christmas present from Hubby. Hubby brought him home from a shelter. The vet at the shelter estimated that Murray was about 2 years old, and said that he was a beagle/wiener dog mix – which is why we’ve always called him a biener dog.
Murray is a sweet dog. He loves people and other dogs. He loves playing with a squeaky toy at least once a day, especially if he can get you to play tug with it. He full of personality, but he has some odd quirks and habits. The little bugger figured out how to open the kennel from the inside, because he can’t stand being in one.
He has taken over the chair-and-a-half in the living room. It now has a Murray shaped dent in the top cushion.
When he’s not sleeping in the Murray-shaped-dent, he searches for a patch of sunlight on the carpet.
Then, there is the strangest quirk of all…animal relocation. When the family leaves the house for any period of time, Murray relocates stuffed animals from the playroom to various locations through out the house. He doesn’t chew on them, tear them up, or cause harm – he just moves them. I’ve figured out there is a direct correlation to the number of hours we are gone to the number of animals Murray relocates.
If we are gone from 30 minutes to 2 hours, he moves one animal – usually the ferret puppet or the stuffed pig will be moved to the dining room.
If we are gone 2 to 4 hours, he moves two animals – the one in the dining room, and one just outside the kitchen – usually the stuffed zebra or the stuffed giraffe.
If we are gone more than 4 hours, he moves three to four animals – the one in the dining room, the one outside the kitchen, and one or two will be moved to the living room – usually the stuffed lamb, and one of his random choices.
So when we went out for dinner on Saturday evening, I expected to find the ferret or the pig in the dining room upon our return. I was completely unprepared for…
green feathers.
We had green feathers EVERY WHERE. They were in the play room, the breakfast room, the living room, the kitchen, and the dining room. They originated from a feather boa given to the boys by my mother last week for their costume collection. Apparently, Murray thought it was an invader – and he tried to kill it.

Judging from the 3+ handfuls of feathers retrieved from various locations through out the house – I’d say he was successful.
Good boy, Murray. Good boy.

Hehe What a cute dog! When my brother leaves his Rottweiler alone, he gathers all his toys and places them around his bed. So cute.
so funny!
wonder if he drags them to other rooms to give him someone to visit with as he roams the house!
is this a good dog for kids?
Biener dog–Ha!
