For years and years, I had read about the miraculous things that vinegar has done. But, I never really tried it for myself… Until now.
About a month ago, I got a new dishwasher. I say new, because it was new to me – technically it was a used dishwasher. The dishwasher works wonderfully, and because it was used we got it at a great price. BUT… the inside of it was caked with hard water/calcium build up. The interior was supposed to be a shiny stainless steel, however that was difficult to see because of the hard water stains.
For the first few cycles, I started the dishwasher and let it run for a few minutes before opening the door and adding about 1 cup of white vinegar. Then close the door and let the dishwasher complete the cycle. After doing this about five times, the vinegar dissolved all of the hard water stains, and the interior looks brand new. It’s amazing stuff, I tell you.
Then when I saw how great it worked for the dishwasher, I decided to try it on my favorite kitchen appliance – the hot water pot. I got it for Christmas, but the bottom of the inside was starting to look sort of grungy. So, I heated up half a pot of water and added 1/4 cup of vinegar, swirled it around. And, presto, change-o, the inside of the hot pot looks brand new.

Now, my question is, where to buy all this vinegar? The largest container I can find at my local superstore is a one-gallon bottle. But if I’m softening my clothes, making my own household cleansers, soothing sunburn, whitening my teeth, and killing weeds … that gallon is gone awfully quickly. Any idea where they sell vinegar in bulk at a discount?
