Well, Ike barrelled through Texas over the weekend. My Houston area family stayed through the storm and ended up with very little damage. For my folks, fence panels blew down, a minor leak in the bathroom ceiling, and branches covering their lawn. For my brother, a tree from his yard fell on to his neighbor’s house and car – again, it did no damage, just a mess to clean up. The worst part about the storm is that they both lost power, my folks about 6PM on Friday, my brother about 2AM on Saturday. My folks stuck it out Friday and Saturday nights, but they couldn’t take another night, so they headed up our way for some nice cold air conditioning. With them, they brought two of the cutest little evacuees you’ve ever seen.
Dixie Dog (like how she just makes herself at home on the arm of my couch?)
and Mustang Sally.

They are planning on staying until power is restored at their home, which according to the light company, could be anytime in the next 2 to 4 weeks. They’ve stayed in touch with neighbors who remained in town, so they’ll know when things are back up and running again. But until then, I’ve got house guests
which I really enjoy. Especially, the little one who chatters and jabbers almost as much as Tigger.

do these wonderful houseguests also function as built-in babysitters?! the possibilities could be endless!
Enjoy your time with them!
I’m so happy to hear that your family’s homes are ok too. The loss of fences and tree limbs seem to be the majority with everyone I have talked to. Praise God!
I am glad to hear that everyone is safe, and that the evacuation has been a blessing itself.
Enjoy!
Glad everyone is safe! Love the beagle pic! Praise God for the minor damage!
glad you are all ok.. not so much in my neck of the woods, I’ve updated my blog… will check in when I can. enjoy your company!

Minor damage here and a big mess – but major destruction not 5 miles away. So sad.
Those ARE the cutest evacuees ever! Enjoy them!
I’m happy everyone came through Ike OK.” We’ve been there and done that.”
Four years ago Ivan hit this area hard. That’s the price we pay for living in paradise.
