I have spent a large majority of the day reaquainting myself with an old friend – my flatbed scanner. It’s been fun looking through the piles of old photographs.
Some of them bring laughter, like this one of my grandmother taken around 1922.
Some of them bring tears, like this one of my Aunt Jo holding her baby sister, my Aunt Ann.
Some of them bring amazement, like this one of my great grandfather. He was a mail man. Can you imagine?!?!

Some of them made me thankful, thankful that I have a different view when I drive.
Some of them put me in awe, like this one of my great grandmother’s pantry.
Some of them have me scratching my head and wondering what the heck was going on…

My dad is the little kid all the way on the left, my Grandaddy was fussing with him for some reason. But what really intrigues me is the guy is in the middle. Who is he, and more importantly, WHY are we supposed to be looking at his belly???
Any guesses?
Anyone?
Anyone?
[crickets chirping]

I’m sure back on that day, playing show ‘n tell my belly for the camera made perfect sense!
I bet after they had a good laugh–well, maybe.
Wonder your dad remembers of that day–outside of getting fussed at!

Thanks for sharing some of your photos! I love looking at old pictures – if nothing else, to see what was important to our family back in the day. Apparently the big belly was important to that guy! Or maybe it was his version of giving someone bunny ears!
These photos remind me alot of photos of my dad’s family around the same time. The lined up canned goods, so proudly on display, are very familiar. In his family at least, a belly like that would have been a source of pride because they were dirt poor, and usually couldn’t have gotten that chubby even with a lot of effort. Enjoyed seeing them.
Oh, those were wonderful. You should start a daily picture post, and share some more. I LOVE old pictures. Thanks!
Those are some awesome photos! I love old photos. What amazes me is that in an age before digital when anything and everything is photographed, they took pictures of a pantry & the view from a cart. You are lucky to have such special photos!
