WFMW: Another Use for Sample Spoons

I’m joining in with Shannon’s Works-for-me Wednesday over at Rocks in My Dryer. For a multitude of solutions to a plethora of problems, stop by her blog.

I’m in the midst of baking Christmas cookies many of which have vibrant colors which requires gel or past food coloring.   You know the kind of food coloring that comes in little jars. Little jars that are the bane of civilization if you are trying to get ANYTHING out of them.   I’ve tried using toothpicks as I’ve seen suggested.   I’d use a spoon, but my spoons  are too big.   I finally had a flash of genius (slight exaggeration) when it struck me that those little sample spoons would be the perfect size!   It so happens that I had a few from the frozen custard store that went out of business.   I scrounged them up from one of my kitchen gadget drawers.   Lo and behold, it works!   Food Coloring out of the jar, without a mess all over the kitchen.   Works-For-Me!

  1. I was going to say the same thing as Diane – baby spoons also work great. You can get a pack of 8 plastic ones at Wal-Mart for just a few dollars!
