Hi Ya’ll,

I’m Tanya, the bad blogger.   I’ve been slacking quite a bit on my blog duties lately.   I wish I could say it’s because I  have done  something great, but really I’ve just been busy with the normal mundane things of everyday life.   Here’s a quick catch up on the latest events and happenings in my little corner of the world…

I finally got my new glasses.   As it turns out the prescription is exactly the same as the one from 10+ years ago.   I did go ahead and spring for  new frames.   Figured I  needed some that were from this century.   I realized that I’ve turned into my  mother when I selected frames that have  sunglass lenses that stick via magnet to the top of frame i.e. clip-on  sunglasses.   I’ll probably need the Geritol before you know it…

Last week, we celebrated my “29th” birthday.   To celebrate the day, the boys and I went to see “The Tale of Despereaux.”   Oh, what a cute movie.   Tigger has been talking about the “gentleman mouse” ever since.   I think we’ll be looking for the book, so we can enjoy the story once again.

Over the weekend, we hosted a small gathering of friends and neighbors  for my  birthday.   Let me just say now, I have the best friends in the whole wide world. We spent so much time laughing and having a genuine good time.   If laughter is the best medicine, I don’t think I’ll be sick for a long, long, long time.

I added an item to my 2009 goal list.   Go to the dentist and fix whatever needs to be fixed, then visit every six months like  the ADA says you’re  supposed to do.   So, I visited last week for the first time in years.   Ugh.   Let’s just say, it looks like I’ll be spending quite a bit of time in the dentist’s chair in the next couple of weeks to “fix” all of the issues.   Yippee.

shatter_rockBoth boys are still involved in AWANAs, and they can earn points that can  be  cashed in at quarterly “Store Nights.”   At the last store night, Woody selected one of those window clings that looks like a rock sticking out of a shattered window.     I couldn’t help but laugh when we opened the package and Woody said “Oh.   I thought I’d get to throw the rock through a bunch of windows.”     Poor guy, the pictures on the package spoke louder than the verbiage on the package.

As we prepared for  the party this past weekend, Hubby mentioned in passing that it’s Mommy’s party, she can cry if she wants to.   Making a joke of the old Leslie Gore’s song, “It’s My Party and I’ll Cry If I Want To.”   Tigger quickly made his way to me, so he could make  sure that I would not be crying at my party.   He just couldn’t stand the thought of anyone crying at their own party, but especially me.    It’s nice to have someone watching out for me. :)

Finally, on this historic day in our nation’s history, let me say:

To the Former President, “Mr. President, welcome home to Texas.   I am grateful for you and your family’s service to our country.   I hope ya’ll enjoy retirement.”

To the New President, “Mr. President,  I will be praying for you.    May God bless you and our nation.”
