I can hardly believe that both of my boys are another year older. Both had birthdays last week – they are officially 7 & 5. Though most days Woody, the 7-year-old, is going on 17.
We had planned on having a birthday party at the local Putt-Putt golf center this Friday, but out of all the people we invited, only one could make it. In an effort to have more than one guest, we decided to reschedule it for some time during the summer. But, we’re still planning on playing Putt-Putt as a family on Friday night, and the boys are so excited they can hardly sleep at night.
I, like many others, have the opportunity to be both parent and teacher. I have been so excited to hear Woody reading things with inflection, and pausing in the right spots. I love hearing Tigger trying to sound out words. I love knowing that their minds are learning and calculating and essentially becoming little sponges. They have grown and learned so much.
I took the above picture last Friday morning. Both boys have changed immensely since then. The gap in Woody’s teeth doubled that night. His front tooth was pretty loose, but not wanting to deal with the drama we had last time, we didn’t do much with it. Then he and Daddy were horsing around, next thing you know, he’s missing two teeth. As for Tigger, the sandals he is wearing in the photo – no longer fit. Seriously! He went to put them on for church Sunday morning and he couldn’t get them on. I thought he was joking so I tried to put them on his feet. I even used some baby powder, thinking his little sweaty feet were the problem. Nope, the little suckers wouldn’t budge. . .
Proof that time marches on.

Those are two handsome boys! They really do look much more grown up here than what I remember from previous photos. It’s so awesome to watch them learning and changing right in front of you, isn’t it?
I had to laugh about the shoes – I’ve had that same kind of experience.
Too bad they’ve changed so much since the picture was taken–that would make a wonderful Christmas card! They grow too fast, don’t they?
They are so handsome…great picture! I know what you mean about the growth spurt…Just bought Jack some new tennis shoes a month or two ago…they are already getting small on him.
that is a precious picture!
this pic of the boys is so precious!
