Contrary to popular belief, I have not fallen off the face of the Earth, or crawled under a very large rock.  I’m still here.  I’ve just been waaaaayyyy to busy to post anything – having 4 extra people and a dog will do that to you though…  My dishwasher and washing machine got a hefty workout with all those people.  I have to say though, I really enjoyed having my family here with me.  We had tons of yummy home-cooked food all week because my mom brought all of the food from her fridge and freezer.  We had to cook it so it wouldn’t go bad.  I’m sorry for the circumstances that caused it, but I really did like all that family time.  It made me think of how things were back in the early 1900’s when several generations of family lived together, or at least close to one another.  It reminded me of The Walton’s, only my mom isn’t crabby like Grandma Walton, and we only had three children here, instead of seven (thank goodness.)

I spent the majority of the week chasing my 10-month old niece around my house.  Like Tigger, I think she’s pretty much the best thing that’s happened since sliced bread.  But, she sure made me reconsider wanting more children.  I’d forgotten how much work those little buggers are!  (Seriously, I don’t know how those of you with little one’s in diapers find the time to blog.  I was to.ta.lly. o.ver.whelmed. every day – and I had the help of my mom and dad!) Part of me still wants two more little one’s at some point in the future but I’m not sure I’m up for the challenge.  However, I was thankful that I did keep a few baby things from Tigger’s baby-days – having baby gates, a high chair, and a pack-n-play on hand made things easier for everyone.

We also got to do a few fun things.  Mom and I had pedicures together one afternoon. Dad and I drooled all over the local camera shop.  The three of us went to a cool quilt shop for Mom to check out.  Hubby and Dad were able to spend some time together enjoying their favorite shooting sports, and visiting Cabela’s (aka Hubby’s second home.)

The TexasTanya hurricane shelter officially closed on Sunday afternoon – the power was restored in both my parent’s house and my brother/sil’s house.  My house looked like a scene from the Roadrunner and Wyle E. Coyote cartoon, they dissapeared so fast all that remained was a little dust cloud.  I can’t blame them though, I know they were all so excited to get back home, and try to get back to their normal lives.

We, too, are working on getting back to “normal” this week.  We’re busy with schooling, and extra-curricular activities.  I’m trying to catch up with email and finalizing field trip plans for next month.  And, I’m hoping to get a little bit of computer time so I can catch up on the 200+ blog posts in my Google Reader. Yikes!

A side note:  I have to share this with ya’ll - it’s now “Room Time” for the boys, that way I can write for a few minutes without interruptions.  I just peeked in on Tigger to see what he was doing – he was playing with his puppet set, specifically the princess puppet.  He was having such a good time, but when he saw that I was looking in, he pulled that puppet off of his hand like it was on fire!  Hee! Hee! Hee!  I told him that it’s okay for him to play with the princess puppet.  She could be a good fill-in for his little cousin, Mustang Sally.  Let’s just say it’s a good thing puppets don’t breathe, he’s smothering it with hugs at the moment…

That’s so cute about the princess puppet! My son would play with her too & have the same reaction if caught. :)

I’m glad power has been restored your families’ homes. I know ya’ll enjoyed each other, but it’s such a relief to know that you (in general) can start to get your life back on track.

Trying to get back to “normal” around here, too! I’m glad your family got their power back. This has been hard on everyone, but it has also brought families and friends a lot closer and that’s always a good thing!

I can’t wait for the day I look in on my boys with Emma and see them all dressed up for a tea party! Glad everything’s back to “normal” for you!

That’s so funny about the princess puppet! Glad you had a great time with your family. I’m also glad that they are able to go home again (and have a home to go to). It’s nice when company comes, but it’s nice when they go so you can get back into a routine.

And how do those of us with little ones have time to blog? It’s called naptime!

  5. I am man enough to proudly admit that I own more Barbies than my wife (she has one, I have two).

Glad everything is slowly coming back together. I understand the blog overload. Every Monday I get back to work with over 400 posts to catch up on. Crazy. [smile]

    Hi Tanya,
Would you submit a request to the BlogHer help desk to change your URL? That way, we can get you back into rotations. I tried to email you but the email bounced back :-( .
